Barcelona’s Wonderkid Lamine Yamal Injured: Hansi Flick Urges Rest Ahead of Spain Duty

Lamine Yamal, Barcelona’s sensational young talent, is facing injury concerns after a recent muscle issue, which the club revealed ahead of their La Liga clash against Real Sociedad on November 11, 2024. Barcelona disclosed that Yamal picked up the injury during their UEFA Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade earlier in the week, and the club has decided to prioritize his recovery rather than risk further strain.

In a statement from the club, Barcelona confirmed that the 17-year-old forward had sustained an injury to his right ankle. The club’s medical team has been working with him over the past few days, but the issue has yet to fully resolve. As a result, Barcelona has opted to rest the wonderkid, and he was ruled out of their match against Real Sociedad.

The official statement read: “Lamine Yamal, a first-team player, suffered an injury to his right ankle during Wednesday’s game against Red Star Belgrade. Over the last few days, he has been undergoing treatment, but the issue persists. As a result, he is unavailable for selection, and his recovery will determine when he returns to action.”

While Barcelona is taking a cautious approach, Hansi Flick, head coach of the German national team, has weighed in on the situation. Flick, fully aware of Yamal’s potential and the demands of international football, has advised the Spanish Football Federation to allow Yamal to skip upcoming Spain national team duties, urging him to focus on his recovery instead of pushing himself too hard to play for his country.

This decision comes at a crucial time as Barcelona faced Real Sociedad without their young star, but unfortunately, they couldn’t secure a win. El Barca was defeated 1-0 at Anoeta Stadium, with Sheraldo Becker scoring the only goal of the match in the 33rd minute.

The club and Flick’s joint stance reflects a growing trend in football to protect the future of young players like Yamal, ensuring they avoid long-term injuries and can continue their promising careers without burning out prematurely.
